Know Name Records: Behind the Counter
File Under: Vampires, Hard Rock, and Affirmational Cough Drops
Warning: this newsletter may cause side effects including uncontrollable headbanging, spontaneous air guitar, and the occasional Bela Lugosi glare. Let’s get real here for moment. I know we joke about coughing, like, well, all the time and when your cough does not initiate from a big monster hit you may find yourselves looking at the affirmational messages printed on some branded cough drops and may even feel inspired. Thanks Halls: “Let’s hear your battle cry!”
Huge thanks to everyone (and a shoutout to the voice of metal legends Impaler, pictured above) who showed up for the release of We Rocked the Twin Cities with co-author Dwayne “Dewey” Carlson. The event was equal parts book signing, hard rock family reunion, and group therapy for those of us still hoarding ticket stubs.
The book itself? A time capsule of Minnesota’s hard rock scene. Click here for an interview with the authors. In case you missed out and want in on the action, one of our rad customers uploaded all of his footage to his YouTube channel and you can catch that video here.
Hard rock loves a good monster, and Bela Lugosi was the original front man of fear. From Dracula (1931) to voodoo priests, mad scientists, and even a few B-movie zombies, Lugosi had more costume changes than your average metal tour. Want to perfect that haunted, stage-lit glare? This DVD box set is your masterclass in spooky facial expressions.
Know Name T-Shirts are hot off the press and fully restocked. This shirt hums at 33 ⅓ RPM. Warning: May cause spontaneous air guitar solos. Can it cure the common cold,? No, it’s just a shirt.
